This July I did a couple blueberry farm documentary sessions at MacDonald’s Blueberries in Pitt Meadows. I love these sessions, and my clients always love the idea of planning mini documentary sessions around an activity. Here’s how they went!
50 Activity Ideas for Your Family Session
Are you at a loss for what activities to do with your family during your family photo or video Session?
Documentary Family Sessions are a huge favorite of mine. Days in the Life, and my shorter family sessions. Usually will take place in your home, or at least partially in your home, because your home plays very a big role in your family! During a short, 2 or 4 hour session, it’s so important that you choose some activities to do with your family, to keep everyone interacting and busy. I encourage you to pick some activities that are comfortable for you and something that would be fun for your family. Whether it’s something you always do, or something new, pick activities that will keep you…
What will your Newborn Session be like?
So what is a newborn family session with me REALLY like? Since my newborn sessions are only about 2 hours long, some families who prefer the documentary approach have some activities planned, such as bath time, going for a walk, making a meal or coffee together, even the usual diapering and feeds are super sweet! If I feel like a family needs a bit of direction, I don’t hesitate to give some suggestions of places to go within the home, or things to do, to keep things rolling…
5 Reasons Why You’d Love A Documentary Family Session
Do you have old family albums? What are your favourite photos to look back on? Believe me, the Sears photos are hilariously PRICELESS, but my absolute favs are the ones where we are in the living room and you can see those leopard print curtains and the plaid couch, the cringe-worthy unsafe carseat you’re strapped into, the vintage toys…how you remember your family and home growing up. Don’t these photos bring back MEMORIES of your childhood?
CHRISTMAS TREE FARM | Documentary Style Family Mini Sessions
Tis the season for mini sessions! I adore these little seasonal, tradition sessions that give just a little snippet of your family life…next stop, a full “Day in the Life” session for you though, amiright!?
For these 40 minute sessions, we are heading to Allouette Tree Farm in Maple Ridge. The ultimate goal is for you to actually buy your Christmas tree DURING our session! I want to capture the hunt, the kid wrangling, the cutting of the tree, loading the car, and all the crazy that goes along with these outings. There is even hot apple cider and a fire to relax beside if you need to warm up and snuggle by the fire for a bit. Don’t need a full tree or have an artificial tree? Just let the kids hunt the farm for a tiny one for them to decorate at home, and maybe pick up a handmade wreath for your front door! They smell ah-mazing.
A New Westminster Birth Story | Family Documentary Photography + Videography
A Raw and Beautiful Postpartum | Fraser Valley Photographer and Filmmaker
Chelsea is a photographer who lives in Chilliwack, BC. I have followed her on Instagram for quite a while now and I was so excited to be invited into this incredible space post-birth. Their baby was born the day before, her second unassisted home birth (because nobody can ever make it to her house in time) with her midwives and…
Quinnly's First Birthday
Danielle is a repeat client, I got to do Quinnly’s newborn photos last year. Their family really wanted some documentary type images to capture a special event in their family this year, because children literally grow like weeds. We decided on her youngest daughter’s first birthday! We were lucky enough to be able to do their session ON the exact day that Quinnly turned one…
