This family was referred to me by one of my fellow birth photographers. It was a straightforward, natural hospital birth. I met mom + dad for coffee before booking, and we went from there!

They kept me updated through the end of their pregnancy and finally I got called in the middle of the night! I was so excited to head to the hospital, as mom was contracting regularly.

I arrived very late that evening and they ended up deciding to send her home, which is so common for first babies. I drove back home and tried to get some sleep, knowing I'd probably have a long day ahead of me!

The next morning I got the call again and headed to the hospital once she was checked and waiting to get admitted. This mama was so incredibly strong. She totally rocked her birth with just gas and the support of her husband, nurse and amazing family. 

I think after the moment of birth and that moment of intense love and relief, my next favourite part of every birth is the whole family meeting the new baby.

The raw love that a new family member brings is so beautiful to watch. Welcome earthside baby A!!
