Disneyland Vacation | Photographing the Photographer | A Documentary Session
We did our first family trip to Disneyland in 2016. A few weeks before we left, I saw an image someone had taken at Disneyland, and knew that I needed to hire a documentary photographer for our next trip, whenever that was. I wanted to enjoy the day with my kids, not worrying about taking photos myself, and I wanted to be present, I wanted to be IN the photos for once!
Fast forward to 2018 and I started my hunt for a photographer. I had met Sarah Sido from Studio Sido when I went to see Kirsten Lewis at Creative Live. She had yet to do a Disney session, but was excited to do one. We drove down to Disneyland and California Adventure from Vancouver with some extended family. We decided to have Sarah start at the vacation rental we were staying at and come with us in our car to the park. We spend the first 4 hours our day with just our family, then invited our extended family in for the last couple of hours.
I have no regrets on hiring a professional to document our day! We had so much fun, I loved getting in the frame, and getting to experience what my clients experience.
If you ever had any doubts about hiring someone to photograph your Disney trip, I hope this helped! We would do it all over again.
